Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam → Mikumi National Park | Maasai Village Evening
Depart Dar at 6:00 AM for a scenic 5-hour drive via Morogoro to Mikumi. Check in and have lunch. Late afternoon, visit a nearby *Maasai boma* just outside the park. Join traditional dances, learn about their nomadic life, and see handmade beadwork. It’s authentic, respectful, and community-run. Return to camp/lodge for dinner and overnight on the edge of the wilderness.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive | Mikumi National Park
Mikumi is known as “Little Serengeti” for a reason. Spend the day exploring the Mkata Floodplains with morning + evening drives. Expect large herds of elephant, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, lion, and if you’re lucky, wild dog. Over 400 bird species keep the skies alive. Picnic lunch in the bush. Return to lodge as the sunset turns the plains gold.

Day 3: Udzungwa Mountains | Sanje Waterfalls Hike → Return to Mikumi
Early morning drive 3 hours to *Udzungwa Mountains National Park*, part of the ancient Eastern Arc rainforest. With a park guide, hike 2-3 hours through forest trails to the base of *Sanje Waterfalls, 170m*. Swim in the natural pool if you like, and look out for endemic Iringa red colobus monkeys. After lunch, drive back to Mikumi for a relaxed evening and overnight.

Day 4: Mikumi → Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, enjoy a final short game drive as you exit the park. Begin the 5-hour drive back to Dar es Salaam with a lunch stop in Morogoro. Drop-off at your hotel or airport by 5:00 PM.
